As part of this mission, we recently hosted an AgriTech training session focused on helping farmers leverage free, application-based technologies to improve farm management, productivity, and sustainability.

The session introduced participants to a variety of digital tools that can be used without cost, covering key areas such as soil quality assessment, humidity monitoring, crop mapping, and road distribution planning. Entrepreneurs learned where to find these tools, how to install and navigate applications, and practical techniques for integrating technology into daily farm operations.

By demonstrating real-world use cases, participants gained hands-on experience in surveying their fields, tracking crop health, and optimizing resource distribution, all crucial for increasing efficiency and reducing losses.

Beyond the technical demonstrations, the training emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making in agriculture. Participants explored how digital tools can help identify patterns, forecast potential issues, and make informed choices about irrigation, fertilization, and crop rotation. This knowledge empowers farmers to maximize yields while preserving resources, supporting both economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The workshop also fostered peer learning and collaboration, allowing participants to exchange experiences, challenges, and innovative approaches to farm management. Mentorship from Kivu Impact Center’s facilitators ensured that attendees left the session not only with knowledge but also with practical strategies they could immediately implement on their farms.

This AgriTech training aligns with Kivu Impact Center’s broader goal of bridging technology and entrepreneurship in the DRC. By introducing farmers and agripreneurs to accessible, free digital solutions, we are helping them become more resilient, competitive, and innovative, while contributing to a stronger, tech-enabled agricultural sector in Bukavu and beyond.
